Cherry tobacco with menthol is an honest description, but this is not cherry and tobacco, it's cherried tobacco: from the first pinch, Red M delivers a cohabitated scent profile where both notes present together from the start in a balanced handshake, rather than evolving from bright fruit into mellow leaf the way blends like JBR Red or Summer Harvest tend to. It delivered a medium amount of vitamin N, easy to use throughout the day, and as a treat it provides more than enough energy to power through it all.
The cherry note is mellow and restrained, avoiding the cough-syrup pitfall that plagues many fruit-forward snuffs. The menthol sits just behind it, offering a refreshing lift without triggering excessive drip or overstaying its welcome. No camphor, no eucalyptus, just a straightforward interplay of fruit, tobacco, and menthol. There is a slightly sweet touch to it, but not nearly as sweet as ALPINA. The tobacco itself is a lighter brown with a rust tinge to it. The grind is medium-fine, a touch fluffy, and forgiving for frequent use, and with a quick sniff it doesn't find its way to the back of the throat: the snuff sits in the nose easily, and the pinch method has been the favourite here. The moisture content is moderately dry when paired with the medium-fine grind, and there has been minimal clumping in the tin.
In fact, Red M has proved an ideal pre-walk ritual, taking a stroll through the neighbourhood, the cool method and cherry help quell the Texas sun.
