A pinch of the German glacier presents menthol and tobacco to the nostrils with the typical Poschl funk behind it. This pinch of the glacier's menthol and Vitamin N does not come in guns blazing like JIP!; instead, this agent is more of the concealed carry type, with an inherent ability to get the party started, but not in an intrusive way.
The menthol and subtle notes of camphor and eucalyptus create a nice mask for the mild burn of Vitamin N, a little boost of energy in a nice and simple format that's easy to use all day long without a headache. The menthol here lacks any pronounced mintiness, as it's front and centre — if there are other cooling agents, they're lost to me. The funk here is more akin to aged tobacco, whereas the funk in Alpina and JBR Red is more pronounced, almost a separate additive. The tobacco is consistent once the menthol and funk are down.
The moisture content is a smidgen drier than Alpina or JBR Red, but still more moist than traditional English snuffs like McChrystals. The medium-coarse grind, coupled with moderate moisture and ample fluffiness, makes this an easy-to-use snuff — though it's worth watching the wind, as the fluffy composition can catch it and send it flying. It stays in the nose and isn't hard to sniff. The tobacco colour is medium-dark brown, with occasional specks of light tan, I imagine from processing the leaf's veins. There's plenty of moisture and an easy-to-pinch grind, and the menthol present helps reduce nasal irritation, though there can be a bit of nasal drip, nothing that puts off additional pinches.
Although this isn't the most robust menthol, the blend is easy to take, sits well in the nose, and provides the needed Vitamin N with only a minor drip. Get your hands on a tin of this if you want to get into the Poschl's family of products and are already a menthol friend.
