Highland Ice may make you think of a snow-kissed mountain terrain, and this snuff's ensemble does just that. All in all, this is a great mentholated snuff for someone who is just stepping into the "mentholated" area.
Out of the Tapper, the snuff sits in the anatomical snuff box with ease. The nose is greeted with an assertive mint, which, once pinched, evolves into a presentation of eucalyptus and menthol, helping to cool the nose. This is accompanied by a crisp note of mint, a unique coolness that is distinct from the sweet mint found in Crumbs of Comfort by WoS. This trio is not as bold as JIP! or O&G, as there is no trace of camphor. The nose scent dances between these members of the band for the majority of the song; however, tobacco does peek through, and eventually takes centre stage as the trio fades out. The tobacco itself is a lighter brown, with long flecks of tan and bits of smaller tan particles, somewhat more coarsely milled, as my box has several larger flecks of tan product. I imagine this is from the vein of the parent leaf, though this is just speculation. The cut is lightly fluffy in nature. The moisture content in my tap box was sufficient, and I was able to tap out a portion easily without significant clumping; this snuff is right at home with most of McChrystals' offerings. This snuff is modest in its nicotine, so a larger pinch may be needed to scratch that itch some need from vitamin N. Friendly in use, this snuff features a combination of moisture, cut, and vitamin N, allowing anyone to take a pinch and enjoy.
Still, the basic combination of mint, menthol, and eucalyptus can leave something to be desired. A more bold and complex blend of medicated ingredients is something I strive to find.
