From the well known Indian (Sheik) owned company (est. 1927) comes this exotic snuff, “medicinal” indeed, for a variety of symptoms…If stuffed up from a cold, an allergy or dried up by the cold wind in the Alps, perhaps even if down and out with boredom or fatigue, this formula will do the trick. Modestly priced, I opted for the 200g compact quantity coming in a hard metal, cylindrical box. It’s a fine grind, substantially humid— behaving almost like a schmalzler!! The aroma out of the box is intense: piney, spicey, with some citrusy high notes bringing to mind the mystique of a Temple in Punjab. The loads of menthol here are masterfully blended with the other aromatic tinctures—which I can’t name. Well, it depends; some may find it all as oppressive as the cologne of a turbaned NYC cabbie. (Apologies if I sounded politically incorrect.) There are individual differences, often extreme, in matters of personal taste preference. A generous pinch will rapidly open a clear path to the icy mountain top. There is a sharp peppery burn on the way to loosening up a moderate, yet pleasant drip. Due to the significant amount of humidity present, nothing would reach the back of the throat. However, don’t you be impulsive and take more than 2 bumps per nostril: the N content is potent. My guess is this is pure Rustica—the tobacco strain highest in N. Novices ought to proceed with caution. And for anybody, this ought to be an after dinner pleasure or strictly for “medicinal” purposes. I take it at least once daily, usually at the point where my daily “rotation” snuffs have blunted my olfactory (taste) sensitivity. Warning: this snuff’s aromas will stay with you …666 ought to be appreciated sensibly, not impulsively! I do very much recommend this regardless of being someone generally adverse to Indian type snuffs. Without realizing it, I fell in love with it! So strange…
