Beginner-friendly, the nicotine level and grind allow for easy use all day long, so much so that you appreciate a rich anise seed forward blend. This is a snuff with a clear identity found in anise, with spices and liquorice to round it out.
The moment it hits, you're greeted with a bold blast of anise that's easily mistaken for handmade pan dulce. There's no menthol to soften the blow, which might be a pro or con depending on your preference. Once the berry wears off, the wheat and tobacco essence come through. In my case, I found the profile surprisingly clean even without menthol, and I do love me some menthol. This anise and liquorice-forward snuff easily hides any nasal burn.
A moderately tan tobacco, leaning to the darker side, it has a medium-fine grind which, coupled with the moderate moisture, can cause it to fall out of the anatomical snuff box if you're not careful. The moisture content is consistent with that of other McChrystal's. There is minor clumping in the tin, but it is not too moist and leans on the drier side. The nicotine is medium-low in nature and easy to take all day. Anise scents can be mildly anaesthetic, and the cooling sensation helps mask any harsh burn. A pinch was easy to control in the hand, but watch out if you are in a windy area.
Stargazer has many notes that remind me of Dr R's GREEN. For fans of herbal or old-world flavours, this one should find its way into your rotation.
