I was prejudiced against Lundy Foot bco my experience with American dry snuff which I associate with saw dust…I took a chance bco its being on sale. I found it to possess enough humidity, even for this style of snuff. The color is that of fine cut cocoa and in fact it tastes like milk chocolate to me! It is gentle, velvety and satisfying in nicotine level. It is comforting and easy going, like a good friend…! If I were to compare the flavor to that of a cigar, a Dominican Fonseca, a classic Avo or a Romeo and Juliette vintage comes to mind. I definitely recommend it.
Truly a gem among toasts; easy to take, smells great, it’s strong, and is all around just pleasant. It’s a great all-day / anytime snuff. I’ve been taking it since 2016 and I still love it. Unlike other snuff mills, SWS makes their toast just a bit differently—and they get it right. There are a few reasons I put this above all other toasts, and firstly is because Lundy Foot has absolutely no smoky smell and no ammonia. There aren’t any discernible added scents whatsoever; just the smooth aroma of clean and gently toasted high quality tobacco. The overall aroma is light and simple, with tobacco being the only thing you’ll smell.
_____ Secondly, although labeled as a fine grind, it’s milled perfectly so as not to be powdery like other toast snuffs. This small difference in consistency makes it much easier and far more pleasant to take—coating the inside of your nostrils perfectly without shooting straight to the back of your throat. If you’ve tried Havana Toast, Golden Horn, Navigator, and St. James Parish snuffs, then you’re familiar with this Goldilocks consistency which SWS achieves in these finely-ground snuffs.
_____ Yet another reason I like this snuff so much is because it has significantly more vitamin N than the other toasts. It hits hard and fast, but without any burn. The latter's due to the fact that SWS uses an all-natural alkalizer that's gentle on the nose. While it’s not overwhelmingly strong—like the late great green Rosinski snuffs—it puts WoS and McChrystals to shame in that department. When I take snuff, I want vitamin N and this has it.
_____ Overall, Lundy Foot is the standard to which I hold all other toast snuffs to. WoS’ Irish No.22 is far more popular—and slightly different in its scent—as well as being a lovely snuff, but this is superior to it (and all others) in enough ways to overshadow it. This has been and always will be one of my favorite snuffs.
Working my way through the SWS line and this is another fantastic blend. It achieves that toast flavor, but does it with a medium grind and avoids that "powder blast to the back of the throat." This is a keeper.
Lundy Foote is much more the antique Irish toast, it must be based off an old recipe as it is nothing like the WoS toasts. While they are good, this has a more dark husky tobacco that comes through with equal amounts of tarmac and leather. MUCH more leathery than most snuffs I’ve had. My first SWS and I’m quite impressed. It’s so easy to take, also. That tangy Virginia does shine through and the rustica adds some body. Higher nicotine also. They’re really different, IMO and not much alike sans the toasting aspect. It's also different than the American scotches, which crank up the bonfire, sawdust and Hickory smoke that overpowers. Excellent snuff.
Pure bready goodness. Barely a hint of sweetness. Good nicotine. If you love plain/bready tobacco you will love this. Absolutely gorgeous and a staple.
