Wilsons Brunswick Black Rappee has a coarse grind with slightly moist texture and uses Zimbabwe Dark Fired tobacco as its base. The blend has minimal scenting, allowing the tobacco character to remain the primary focus. Tasting notes include natural tobacco, earthy, hay, leather, and nutty flavours with light floral notes.

The aroma is smoky and tobacco-forward with cigar-like qualities. Nicotine strength is medium-high to strong. This is a dark tobacco snuff with citrus notes that complement rather than mask the tobacco base.

Brunswick Black Rappee greets the nose with bold, earthy notes deeply rooted in a fire-cured tradition. You're met with scents of damp soil, worn leather, and smoke from a hearth fire long extinguished. There's no perfume, no menthol, and no clever twists, just tobacco doing what it does best. The grind is finely milled with a slightly fluffy cut, not easily pinched but rather best placed with care. The relatively coarse grind is rather hard to hold in the nose and requires almost a placement in the nose.

Once in the nose, the moisture does its part, keeping the aroma anchored and prolonging the experience. The moisture content is ample, with plenty of clumping in the tin. This snuff provides a moderate amount of Vitamin N, easy to use throughout the day. For someone more accustomed to mentholated or medicated blends, this was a clear departure, yet not an unwelcome one.

What this snuff lacks in complexity, it makes up for in clarity. The profile is straightforward: earthy, smoky, and satisfyingly simple. It's a rare example of a snuff that celebrates its tobacco roots. Drip is minimal, the hit is steady, and the presence lingers long enough to make a second pinch a choice rather than a necessity. If you're someone who appreciates tobacco-forward snuffs without embellishment, this one belongs in your box.
