Madras menthol and eucalyptus (a Hedges substitute)

A way to get close to Hedges L260 without the cost of importing it, worked out with help from the forum. It starts from NC Madras, an Indian snuff.

Equipment
Digital scalesFor weighing tobacco, alkalis and salt accurately, which matters most when you're working in small batches.Mortar and pestleFor grinding small amounts by hand, crushing salt and alkalis to a fine dust, and working scent or moisture evenly into snuff.Mixing bowlFor stirring liquids into ground tobacco and letting it sit while it takes up moisture.DropperFor adding essential oils or water a drop at a time.Airtight jarsFor resting snuff while it develops, and for storing it afterwards.

It mellows a little once it's been in a jar for a while.
Tasting notes
Strong menthol, close to Hedges.
Notes
Menthol and eucalyptus oil are both strong, so don't add more than this. The Hedges L260 recipe elsewhere in this book is a more exact version.
