Spearmint and menthol rustica

Making from scratchmenthol and mintIntermediate

From Johano on the Snuffhouse forum, 2020

A first homemade rustica, a moist nefha-style snuff. The dried leaves sit in a container with fresh spearmint first, and a little menthol goes in as well.

Rustica carries several times the nicotine of ordinary tobacco. Take very small pinches, and stop if you feel sick or dizzy.

Rest time

3 to 5 days in a closed tin.

Tasting notes

A cooling menthol without harshness and a natural spearmint scent. It burned a little, no more than a fresh commercial snuff, and had a real nicotine kick.

Notes

A coarser version with 10% carbonate, scented with fresh rosemary in a teabag, also works. Wear gloves for the carbonate and keep it out of your eyes.
