Samuel Gawith - Kendal Brown Original
Samuel Gawith - Kendal Brown Original
Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown Original has a medium grind with moderate moisture content. The blend uses naturally fermented tobacco that has developed earth and leather notes through the fermentation process. Tasting notes include natural tobacco, citrus, and lemon, with ammonia notes from the fermentation.
The colour is medium to dark brown. Nicotine strength is medium. The citrus notes emerge as the initial ammonia presence fades, creating a layered profile that shifts between the earthy tobacco base and brighter citrus elements.

I bought a bunch of other snuffs, mostly menthols, then tried KB Original and never looked back. Just enough ammonia and smokiness with a slight orange scent in the background. Superb!
New to snuff but have always enjoyed cigars and non aromatic pipe tobaccos. I absolutely fell in love with this stuff from the start. The smell in the tin took me off guard initially, I think because I wasn’t expecting the ammonia scent. But when I took a pinch the experience was almost totally different. Love the way it smells in my nose, especially when I’m out in the yard. And the nic kick… whoa. Gentle but profound and very, very satisfying. I immediately reordered several more tins.
I’m a novice, and I’ve recently gotten into snuff. This is one of my faves so far. When I try to describe this to people it sounds like it would be disgusting because I use words like “barnyard” “horse piss, but in a good way.” It’s really unique and delicious. I love it.
Deep dark color well aged.moist medium course grind lightly citrus scented.slight to no nose burn, very satisfying earthy tobacco. This is where it starts and just gets better from here.SG and company has passed the test of time. And this original shines with all its goodness .
I recommend this Kb original for newbies and old snuffer to enjoy.
This is my favorite of the heavier varieties. Coarse and moist, with a subtle but penetrating hint of orange, Kendal Brown is much easier to take than Gawith's dark rappees. It is woody, slightly smoky, heavy, with a strong tobacco flavor, and it has an almost nautical quality to it (docks, ropes and other boating implements). Snuffs this coarse and moist make them ideal for folks trying to give up cigarettes, since you can take limitless amounts without fear of drying up or congestion.
The Original in the name is no gimmick since this is the the very same recipe that Samuel Gawith started producing in 1791.
